Specific Details Of Zdeno Chara's And Zach Parise's Contracts Released

Although hockey fans knew that the New York Islanders signed Zdeno Chara and Zach Parise this off-season, the specific details of their contracts were never released. Now, that has changed. Both Chara and Parise will have $750,000 cap hits for this regular season. They also can get up to $750,000 in performance bonuses.

Overall, it's hard to complain about either of these contracts. They are both extremely cheap contracts for two players with an immense amount of experience.

Chara is heading into his 24th NHL season and will be back with the team who originally drafted him. Even at 44 years old, he still works well as a bottom-pair defenseman and can be utilized on the penalty kill. In 55 games last season with the Washington Capitals, he scored two goals and had 10 points.

Parise of course was bought out by the Minnesota Wild this summer. He still can produce as a middle-six winger at this juncture of his career. In 45 games last season, he scored seven goals and had 18 points. He also had a pretty solid postseason, as he scored two goals and an assist in four games.

It will be interesting to see what these two grizzled veterans provide this season for the Islanders.
