Trade Rumor: Buffalo Sabres Want Two Golden Knights Players In Jack Eichel Trade

According to Jeff Marek, the Buffalo Sabres would want Peyton Krebs and Nicolas Hague to be included in a potential Jack Eichel trade with the Vegas Golden Knights. They also would want more for Eichel of course, but those two players are the ones that the Sabres are reportedly most interested in.

Marek also noted that Vegas is against including Krebs in any trade, but they would be willing to move Hague to acquire a star center in Eichel. The Golden Knights also have very limited cap space, so they would need to trade at least one player with a high salary as well. Two potential candidates include Reilly Smith and Evgenii Dadonov. The Sabres also aren't willing to retain any of Eichel's salary, either.

Krebs is Vegas' top prospect and a former first-round pick. At 20 years old, he is just getting his NHL career started and would be the perfect player for Buffalo to add. In six career NHL games thus far, he has an assist. He also has played six games with the Henderson Silver Knights since last season. With the AHL team, he has a goal and seven points.

Hague is a big defenseman who has certainly has the potential to become a top-four defenseman. In 92 career games with Vegas, he has six goals, 23 assists and 29 points. He recorded 17 points in 52 games last season, while also playing a very physical game. If Buffalo were to acquire him, he would have a chance to have a bigger role due to their weak depth on defense.

Vegas has been rumored to be interested in Eichel since the summer and it makes sense. They need a true first-line center and Eichel would provide them that when healthy. We will have to wait and see if Vegas is able to successfully acquire him.
