Trade Rumor: Maple Leafs Receiving Offers as Injuries Pile Up

The Toronto Maple Leafs are going through some adversity early on this season with some injuries and their depth will be tested. Turns out teams around the league have noticed and rumor has the Leafs receiving some trade calls on a couple of players.

With the injuries up front, defenseman Travis Dermott who has made the team as the sixth defenseman, has been generating some trade buzz as the Maple Leafs could move Dermott out to bring in another versatile forward who can play both the wing and center.

Another defenseman generating some interest around the league is 33-year-old Alex Biega who had a great training camp in Toronto. Last season Biega appeared in 13 games for the Detroit Red Wings, recording three assists. With 241 NHL games under his belt, the smooth-skating Biega is on the radar of a few teams and while he wouldn't fetch a ton on the trade market, the Maple Leafs aren't looking for top-end talent, more so just another depth option.

If the Maple Leafs make any trades early on this season, expect it to be a subtraction from the defense for an addition to the forward group and most likely a center for the team's fourth line. With injuries and the recent waiver claim by the Montreal Canadiens on Adam Brooks, Toronto is thin and could be looking to add some help.
