2 Ottawa Senators Most Likely to be Traded

The Ottawa Senators are not expected to make the playoffs this season as this year will be concentrated on developing some of their younger core. While Brady Tkachuk is now leading the charge in Ottawa, expect to see a couple of their depth players moved for assets closer to the trade deadline.

2 Senators Likely on the Way Out

Chris Tierney: The veteran pivot is a pending free agent who is going to generate a ton of interest league wide. Tierney is a great fit for a #3 center on a contending team and his $3.5 million salary is manageable to take on half way through a season. Tierney has recorded five goals in 13 games so far this season and while he's normally over 50% in the faceoff circle, that is one area he's been struggling in so far in 2021. The Keswick, ON native has 40 games of postseason experience under his belt and this will certainly change the eye of teams across the league. A contract extension is less likely than a trade at this point.

Zachary Sanford: The rugged winger is a player who can provide teams with some sandpaper. In 13 games this season Sanford has only recorded two points, but has delivered 25 hits and is going to be a nice addition for a playoff bound team to add to their fourth line. Sanford also has the ability to move up the lineup as he's shown in the past with the St Louis Blues he can provide some secondary scoring. Two years ago he scored 16 goals in 58 games and another 10 in 2020-21. Another pending free agent there's no doubt Ottawa moves on from Sanford and cashes in on their asset.
