Evander Kane Officially Clears Waivers

On Sunday, the San Jose Sharks waived controversial forward Evander Kane. Although he is a very good player, every other NHL team has passed on the 30-year-old winger.

Ultimately, it isn't too surprising to see, as Kane has been a major distraction off the ice and his $7 million cap hit for four more seasons doesn't mesh well with that. However, the Sharks have made it known that they are willing to retain salary in a potential trade and teams like the Vancouver Canucks have been calling.

When on the ice, there's no denying that he's a legitimate top-six forward. In 56 games last season with the Sharks, he scored 22 goals and had 49 points. With this, there should be some teams who are willing to take a chance on him if San Jose eats half his salary.

Alas, don't be shocked to see a deal centering around Kane occur very soon.
