New York Rangers Looking to Trade for Specific Need

Even after their latest loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday night, the New York Rangers are surprising some with their strong play this season. Rangers management is now trying to upgrade their roster via trade and have their eyes set on a 'middle-six forward'. This according to Darren Dreger of TSN.

Roster versatility is what separates the good teams from the elite ones and the Rangers know they need to find another forward who can move up and down their lineup. The Rangers have dealt with some of their younger players not playing up to their potential, but they also just lost forward Sammy Blais for the season after falling victim to a P.K Subban slew foot.

The Rangers are hot on the trade market looking for forward help and could be looking west. The Arizona Coyotes continue to loss hockey games and are willing to trade just about anyone if it means they receive draft picks in return. Here's what Dreger had to say on the latest episode of Insider Trading:

The Rangers have been in the market for a forward for quite some time. And I think it’s been amplified by the fact they lost Sammy Blais for the remainder of the season earlier this week. So, Chris Drury, the general manager for the New York Rangers, is looking for a middle-six forward, which isn’t a term we use often in hockey. That can be a third-line player or someone who can punch into the top six. U.S. Thanksgiving normally nudges the trade market a little, so there’s nothing on the front burner but definitely Rangers are on the hunt.

The Rangers are third in the Metropolitan Division and hope some fresh blood can push them up the standings. Keep an eye on the Big Apple, the Rangers are busy talking trade and one could be announced very soon.
