Predators To Start Extension Talks With Filip Forsberg

According to Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic, Filip Forsberg's agent, J.P. Barry, is expected to meet with the Nashville Predators to discuss the star's next contract.

The Predators of course signed defenseman Mattias Ekholm to his extension before the start of the regular season. Therefore, that could help the chances of Forsberg being willing to sign an extension with the team.

LeBrun also noted that Forsberg is looking for an eight-year contract. Although long-term deals can be risky, it is important to note that he is still just 27 years old. Therefore, he wouldn't be too old by the end of it. LeBrun also used Gabriel Landeskog's eight-year, $56 million as a potential comparable.

In nine games this season thus far, Forsberg has four goals and seven points. If the Predators want to keep him around, they certainly will need to pay the star. Considering the fact that he has consistently been their top forward for multiple seasons now, it's fair to say he has earned it.
