Video: Auston Matthews Scores Beauty Overtime Winner


Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs is heating up and on Friday night against the Calgary Flames he took matters into his own hands in the extra frame and called game.

Matthews' individual effort resulted in the overtime winner as he went five-hole on Flames netminder Daniel Vladar. After a very slow start to the season, the Arizona native has 11 points in 12 games. One of the biggest reasons for his hot streak has been a line change by Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe. The Leafs coach moved off Mitch Marner and inserted William Nylander on Matthews' wing and the rest has been history.

As for Friday's game, it was a predictable low scoring game as Maple Leafs netminder Jack Campbell has been on fire, and the Flames are one of the best teams in the league at keeping the puck out of their net. 

It was quite the sequence in overtime as Vladar stopped Matthews and Marner on back to back chances and then Campbell shut the door immediately after. Then Papi gave Leafs Nation what they wanted:
