Video: Flames' Lucic Ejected For Boarding Jets' DeMelo

In Saturday night's game between the Calgary Flames and Winnipeg Jets, forward Milan Lucic was ejected after boarding defenseman Dylan DeMelo. On the play, Lucic received a five minute major for boarding and 10 minute misconduct.

After Mikael Backlund dumps the puck into the Jets' defensive zone, DeMelo went to retrieve it behind the net. With his back turned, Lucic hit him hard into the boards. Following the hit, DeMelo's face was also cut open.

When looking at this play, DeMelo is certainly in a vulnerable position. Lucic had enough time to let up on the play, but the 33-year-old winger certainly is known for his physicality and chose not to. Could DeMelo have put himself in a better position? One could argue that. Was the hit still dangerous? Absolutely.

It will be interesting to see if NHL Player Safety gets involved with this incident. They have been a bit unpredictable this season.
