NHL Rumors: Colorado Avalanche Looking To Add Defenseman

According to Peter Baugh of The Athletic, the Colorado Avalanche are likely to add a defenseman because of their current injury trouble.

It isn't surprising in the slightest that the Avalanche are interested in strengthening their blue line. At this time, both Bowen Byram and Ryan Murray are out indefinitely. Byram was blossoming before our very eyes this year, so his absence alone has been rough. Murray, on the other hand, is a solid bottom pair defenseman who Colorado would rather have in the lineup than not.

Colorado should be looking for a defenseman to play either side at this point. It will be intriguing to see what they end up doing, but it would be shocking if we don't see a new addition to their defensive group by the end of the season. With more teams starting to fall off, their options will only grow from here.

After a slow start to the season, Colorado is starting to take off, as they sport a 17-8-2 record and are now fourth in the Central Division. Thus, adding now seems like the best move, as they are due for that Stanley Cup.
