Buffalo Sabres Place Goalie On Waivers

The Buffalo Sabres have placed goaltender Aaron Dell on waivers.

This is pretty interesting timing, as Dell is currently serving a three-game suspension for his cheap shot on Ottawa Senators forward Dylan Batherson. Sabres head coach Don Granato confirmed that Craig Anderson will be returning in net for Saturday's game against the Arizona Coyotes. Tokarski also traveled with the team, so it seems that he will be returning as well, but as the backup. Keep in mind, the rest of their goalies are all out.

In 12 games this season with the Sabres, Dell sports a 1-8-1 record, 4.03 goals-against average, and .893 save percentage. Him being placed on waivers makes sense, as it will allow the Sabres to have two goaltenders on the roster for their next game. Yet, when looking at how both Anderson and Tokarski have outperformed him this season, Dell may be staying in the AHL from here.

Given the fact that Dell is serving a suspension and is struggling this season, it seems unlikely that a team will opt to claim. However, crazier things have happened, so we will have to see what happens on Sunday.
