Detroit Red Wings Forward Making Progress

Detroit Red Wings forward Jakub Vrana is making progress. The 25-year-old winger is starting to skate for the first time since his shoulder surgery. Head coach Jeff Blashill also noted that he hopes the forward can return in mid-to-late February.

Vrana has unfortunately been out for the entirety of this regular season due to his injury. Immediately after being acquired by the Red Wings from the Washington Capitals last season, he became a perfect fit. In 11 games, he scored an impressive eight goals and recorded three helpers. It also doesn't hurt that the Red Wings received draft picks along with him by giving up Anthony Mantha.

The Red Wings could certainly use Vrana right now. At this time, they sport a 16-15-3 record and are fifth in the Atlantic Division. With this, they are still in the playoff hunt but do have to catch some teams to make it in the Wild Card. If they are in a similar place once Vrana returns, that would be a major boost for them.

Nevertheless, it's nice to hear that Vrana is back on the ice. It will be fantastic once he can officially return to game action.
