Devils Lose Two More Players

The New Jersey Devils will be without Damon Severson and Janne Kuokkanen, as they have been placed in COVID-19 protocol.

The Devils have been getting hit hard by the virus as of late. Jesper Bratt, Andreas Johnsson, Yegor Sharangovich, Pavel Zacha, Mason Geersten, and Nathan Bastian are all sidelined because of it. Dougie Hamilton, who is out with a broken jaw, is also in protocol, too. The Devils were scheduled to play the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday night, but it now has been postponed due to all of these cases.

Severson has been having another solid year offensively for the Devils. In 35 games thus far, he has five goals and 10 assists. Because Hamilton is already out, losing Severson on the right side of their defense as well certainly doesn't do the Devils any favors. This is especially the case when remembering that New Jersey is trying to get their season back on track.

After an impressive 25-point in 50 games with the Devils last season, Kuokkanen has come back down to Earth a bit this year. In 34 games, the 23-year-old winger has five goals, three assists, and a minus-10 rating. Once he is eligible to play again, he will try to rediscover the magic he had during his first full NHL season last year.
