NHL Rumors: 2 Teams Expected to Make a Major Splash

The NHL's trade deadline is March 21 and it's shaping up to be a busy couple of months before hand. Buyers and sellers will be determined and some general managers will be going all-in, trying to bring home the Stanley Cup this season. According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, two teams to watch out for - Colorado Avalanche and Carolina Hurricanes.

Two teams you are going to hear in almost every trade rumour: Carolina and Colorado. - Elliotte Friedman, 32 Thoughts

Both teams are powerhouses in their respected conferences and certainly already have the fire power to make some noise in the postseason. Both teams however have not been able to get over a couple of final hurdles to propel them into the Stanley Cup Final.

The Carolina Hurricanes are rumored to be looking for a top-six winger who can help put up some offense. They are open to moving out some prospects and the team appears set in goal and on defense, so expect something big to happen with their forward group.

As for the Avalanche, goaltending is a major concern. Darcy Kuemper has not been great lately and rumors are starting to fly out about their interest level in Carey Price out of Montreal. Unfortunately he has yet to hit the ice this season in game action so any deal for him is expected in the offseason. Marc-Andre Fleury's name has also come up more than once as a candidate to consider. After goaltender it's down the middle, the Avs would like to add a third-line center and a depth defenseman. But it appears their focus for now is goaltending.

Two teams near the top of league standings and a willingness to go all-in this season. Should be fun to watch as we creep closer to the end of March.
