NHL Rumors: 3 Potential Trade Destinations for Petr Mrazek

The Toronto Maple Leafs have been contacted recently regarding the future of Petr Mrazek, this according to Jeff Marek of Sportsnet. While general manager Kyle Dubas isn't shopping his backup, it does sound like he's willing to strongly consider a deal at the right price.

Let's take a look at three teams who will likely be making offers to the Maple Leafs for Mrazek:

Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers are getting desperate for goaltending help and have been rumored to have contacted just about everyone for just about anyone. Sounds like Oilers general manager Ken Holland isn't happy with teams asking for his first-round pick, but that's not necessarily what could transpire with the Maple Leafs. They would love to get rid of Mrazek's $3.8-million salary through the 2023-24 season. Perhaps a deal involving a couple of Edmonton's pending free agents could get Dubas' attention. A name like Kris Russel rings a bell.

Colorado Avalanche

The Avs don't have a goalie signed for next season and are apparently not sold on Darcy Kuemper being the long-term solution. Mrazek is a couple of years younger and would certainly come in cheaper on the salary cap over the next two seasons. The Leafs and Avalanche have trade history together and another deal could be on the way. If a deal goes down between these two teams this season, expect Mrazek to head to Denver with Colorado goalie Pavel Francouz and a depth defenseman heading back the other way.

Washington Capitals

The other two teams are much likelier landing spots just based on the fact they are both western conference teams, however the Capitals are one team from the east looking to add some goaltending depth. They have already contacted the Chicago Blackhawks about Marc-Andre Fleury and could have interest in Mrazek from Toronto.
