NHL Rumors: Flyers To Trade Veteran Defenseman

According to David Pagnotta, the Philadelphia Flyers are very likely to trade Justin Braun by the deadline.

Braun has one year left on his contract, and the Flyers are playing horribly. They have lost 11 straight contests and are at the bottom of the Metropolitan Division with a 13-20-8 record. This kind of season is extremely disappointing, but especially after the summer of spending they had. Alas, players like Braun who have expiring contracts will more than likely be traded.

Braun is the kind of veteran defenseman that all playoff teams would love to have. He is not a superstar, but he is a reliable bottom-pair defenseman who also has played exactly 100 playoff games. Therefore, it's fair to say that he has a lot of overall experience, which is certainly a nice perk that comes with the veteran.

In 41 games this season, the 34-year-old has two goals and seven helpers. He has already passed his production of last season because of this, too.

It will be interesting to see what the Flyers decide to do with Braun, but it seems inevitable that he will be sporting a different jersey by the season's end.
