NHL Rumors: Panthers Looking To Upgrade At Specific Position

According to Dan Rosen, the Florida Panthers are expected to add a left-handed defenseman by the trade deadline.

At this juncture, the Panthers have four very good right-handed defensemen in Aaron Ekblad, Mackenzie Weegar, Radko Gudas, and Brandon Montour. However, they could use another solid lefty for their inevitable playoff run this spring.

Rosen noted that Chiarot could be a very good option for them because of his very physical style of play. Furthermore, he also would be an upgrade to Florida's current left side and could fit perfectly on their bottom pair. However, they have other potential rental options in players like Mark Giordano, Calvin de Haan, and Nick Leddy.

The Panthers should be aggressive at the deadline, as they have a real shot of doing something this year. At this point of the season, they sport a 28-8-5 record and aren't showing signs of slowing down.

Alas, whether it's Chiarot or another defenseman - don't be surprised to see the Panthers add someone to the left side.
