NHL Rumors: Red Wings Defenseman Becomes Trade Bait

The Detroit Red Wings will likely trade veteran defenseman, Nick Leddy, by the deadline, according to Frank Seravalli.

The Red Wings have been exceeding expectations this season, as they sport a 16-15-3 record. However, even with this being the case, they are still in rebuilding mode and will likely be trading their pending UFAs at the deadline. Leddy, a 30-year-old defenseman with solid trade value, fits that description perfectly.

They will be a plethora of teams interested in Leddy. He's a left-handed, top-four defenseman who will be viewed as one of the more notable rentals available for the taking. It has been a down year for Leddy this season, though, as he has just nine assists in 32 games. With that, he sports a minus-14 rating.

Yet, he is due for a bounce-back, as he has just had a 31-point campaign in 56 games last season. Furthermore, he comes with a ton of playoff experience, so that will only make other teams interested.

We will have to wait and see where Leddy ends up from here.
