Philadelphia Flyers Lose 2 Key Players

The Philadelphia Flyers are the latest team to be hit with a COVID outbreak as the team announced they have moved both forward Claude Giroux and defenseman Ivan Provorov to the protocol list.

Tough news no doubt for a Flyers team that just can't seem to get healthy this season. They currently sit fifth in the Metropolitan division with a record of 13-13-6. Despite the struggles in 2021-22, the team sits only two points back of a playoff spot and are 5-3-2 in their past 10 games.

As for Giroux, he's in a contract season and there's been a giant spotlight casted on his future in Philly recently. If the team is contending for a playoff spot, he won't be moved but if they do fall off, expectation is Giroux will be traded by the Flyers. In 32 games this season the 33-year-old has recorded 11 goals and 29 points.

As for Provorov he's appeared in 32 games and has recorded 13 points. The team is already without Ryan Ellis long-term so this certainly won't help their depth on the blue line.

The Flyers are in Anaheim on Tuesday night to take on the Ducks. Without Ellis, Provorov, Giroux, Sean Couturier and Samuel Morin, you may want to lean towards taking the Ducks.
