Team Canada Names Olympic Roster

Hockey Canada announced the roster for the 2022 Beijing Olympics and it's full of players who might not be too familiar to the casual hockey fan. Regardless, while the NHL won't be sending anyone, the team is loaded with talent and has a chance to medal at the games.

25 men have been selected to represent 🇨🇦 at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games.

Some interesting names include long-time NHL veteran Eric Staal, who is one of the rare members of the triple gold category and is trying to use the Olympic games as a route to sign back in the NHL. Along with Staal, Toronto Marlies forward Josh Ho-Sang could become an x-factor in the games, along with former number one overall pick of the Buffalo Sabres, Owen Power.

Along with the names mentioned above, Team Canada will also bring a number of alternate players in case they have to deal with a COVID outbreak or a slew of injuries. These names, according to Chris Johnston of TSN, include goaltender Justin Pogge, Morgan Ellis, John Gilmour, Chris DiDomenico, Kent Johnson and Max Véronneau.

Worth noting: Team Canada had their thunder stolen from them earlier in the week as the IIHF accidently tweeted out the roster and never deleted it so a lot of people had a good idea of who was being named today.
