Video: Canadiens' Wideman Headbutts Bruins' Haula

During a scrum after the whistle, Montreal Canadiens defenseman Chris Wideman delivered a headbutt to Boston Bruins forward Erik Haula.

This situation occurred after Haula put Wideman in a headlock. At this juncture of the contest, things were already very heated, as the Bruins held a 4-1 lead. After the headbutt, they only escalated, as Haula then immediately started punching the defenseman.

Wideman avoided ejection, though, and only received four penalty minutes in total. Yet, he may not be given as much leniency from NHL Player Safety. After St. Louis Blues forward Pavel Buchnevich headbutted Arizona Coyotes forward Lawson Crouse earlier this campaign, he ended up with a two-game suspension. If NHL Player Safety practices consistency, we should see Wideman receive a suspension of some kind.

The Bruins ended up defeating the Canadiens by a 5-1 final score. With this win, they now have a 20-11-2 record, while Montreal is 7-24-4.
