Minnesota Wild To Be Without Defenseman

Minnesota Wild defenseman Matt Dumba will be out for the next few weeks due to a lower-body injury.

Dumba just returned to action for Saturday's game against the Carolina Hurricanes after missing the previous two weeks. However, it's clear that the 27-year-old needs more time to recover, and now the Wild will be forced to move forward without him for a bit.

Dumba has once again been a very important player for the Wild this season. In 40 games, he has four goals, 16 assists, and a plus-9 rating. Overall he not only has been reliable defensively, but he also has chipped in well offensively in the process. Therefore, the Wild will certainly miss having him in the lineup. He isn't an easy player to replace in the slightest.

The Wild have dealt with a lot of injury trouble, and this latest with Dumba only makes that even more clear. However, Minnesota has been very good this season still, as they sport a 29-11-3 record. The Nashville Predators and St. Louis Blues are not too behind them, though, so they will have to win a lot from here if they hope to keep their second-place spot in the Central Division.

Alas, here's to hoping that Dumba has a speedy recovery.
