NHL Rumors: Blue Jackets Set Asking Price For Alexandre Texier

According to Frank Seravalli, the Columbus Blue Jackets want a first-round pick and top prospect in any trade involving Alexandre Texier.

We recently reported that the Blue Jackets are currently listening to offers for Texier. It's a bit of a surprising development, but if they are successfully able to land that kind of return for the 22-year-old, it is something at least worth considering.

Texier is in the first season of his two-year, $3.05 million contract. Thus, he will carry a very affordable $1.525 million cap hit for next season and will still be a restricted free agent once it ends. Therefore, Columbus doesn't need to rush a move. However, it's still clear that they are at least open to making one given this development.

In 36 games this season, Texier has 11 goals and 20 total points. With this production, he has already set new career highs in both of these categories, so it's fair to say that he is starting to progress in his development. This should make several teams interested in him. The real question is whether or not Columbus will receive an offer that they find acceptable.

Alas, a price has been set for Texier. Let's see what happens from here.
