NHL Rumors: Bruins Interested In Flyers Defenseman

According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Boston Bruins are one of the teams calling the Philadelphia Flyers about Justin Braun.

This isn't too surprising to hear, as the Bruins could use a little bit of help on the right side of their defensive core. Although Charlie McAvoy and Brandon Carlo form a very solid one-two punch, there is debate over whether Connor Clifton is better suited to be the team's seventh defenseman. Furthermore, after him, their next right-handed option is AHL defenseman Tyler Lewington. Thus, adding some depth wouldn't be bad for them.

With the Flyers completely out of the playoff race, they are expected to be sellers this trade deadline. Braun has an expiring contract, so naturally, it's understandable that they are shopping him. The 35-year-old plays a hard game and is known for his defense-first nature, so there should continue to be a lot of interest in him until a move is made.

In 49 games this season, Braun has four goals, eight assists, and a plus-1 rating. It will be interesting to see if he ends up in Boston from here.
