NHL Rumors: Bruins Looking To Make 2 Upgrades

According to Frank Seravalli, the Boston Bruins are looking to add a left-handed defenseman and scoring winger this deadline season.

Interestingly, Seravalli didn't note the Bruins' second-line center issue as a "primary objective" to address in his piece, but it's hard to argue against these potential upgrades, too. The left side of their defense has been weak since the departures of both Zdeno Chara and Torey Krug, so if they are able to find a potential top-four replacement, it would be big for them. As for a scoring winger, they have not been getting a lot of production at right wing this season, so it makes sense that they are in the market for one.

With how deep the Eastern Conference is this season, the Bruins will need to make some additions if they hope to go on any sort of playoff run. At this point of the season, they have a 26-16-3 record and hold the second Wild Card spot. They just lost to one of their potential first-round opponents, the Carolina Hurricanes, by a 6-0 final score. This comes after they fell to them by a 7-1 final score during their last meeting, too.

If the Bruins do want to go for one last run with this core, we should see them be aggressive at the deadline. These are just two areas where they need improvement. This is especially true when looking at how strong the Atlantic Division is alone.
