NHL Rumors: Canucks Interested In Devils Forward

While on Hockey Night in Canada, Jeff Marek reported that the Vancouver Canucks are interested in New Jersey Devils forward Pavel Zacha.

When it comes to the rumor mill, we have only been hearing about players who they could end up trading. Some of these include J.T. Miller, Conor Garland, Brock Boeser, and Tanner Pearson. However, with this development, it appears that they are still open to bringing in talent this deadline season, too. Zacha is a rather interesting player and could be a nice addition if acquired.

In 45 games this season, Zacha has 12 goals to go along with 10 assists. With numbers like these, he could be classified as a very solid middle-six forward. However, he also showed signs of top-six potential just last season, as he had 35 points in 50 games.

Although Zacha has played well for the Devils these last few seasons, he may be expendable due to the team's strong depth down the middle. They currently have Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier locked up long-term, and Dawson Mercer has emerged into an NHL talent very quickly. Perhaps now is the time for the 2015 first-round pick to have an opportunity to play his natural position elsewhere.

Marek did note that other teams are interested in Zacha but did not specify who. It will be interesting to see if he ends up on the Canucks or elsewhere.
