NHL Rumors: Devils Interested In Canucks Forward

In his latest Trade Targets board, Frank Seravalli noted that the New Jersey Devils are interested in Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser and have been trying to acquire him for multiple years now.

This is a very intriguing development from Seravalli. This is especially true when remembering that Elliotte Friedman recently reported that the Canucks have expressed interest in Pavel Zacha, too. Although Zacha wouldn't be enough to bring Boeser to New Jersey by himself, he certainly could be a notable piece heading the other way in a hypothetical swap.

Boeser has a $7.5 million qualifying offer (QO), so it makes sense that the Canucks are at least considering the idea of moving him. They are currently trying to free up cap space, and the 24-year-old automatically has to receive a big raise next season because of his QO. Although he has scored 10 goals over his last 21 games, he was having a disastrous season before this hot stretch. In 43 total games thus far, he now has 14 goals, 13 assists, and a minus-6 rating.

Alas, this is a big story to keep an eye on as we inch closer to the deadline. Boeser would provide the Devils with a legitimate top-six winger for Jack Hughes. That duo together could be lethal.
