NHL Rumors: Flames Interested In Blackhawks Defenseman

Although the Calgary Flames just added Tyler Toffoli, they may not be done making moves just yet. According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, they also are expressing interest in Chicago
Blackhawks defenseman Calvin de Haan.

It's clear that the Flames would benefit from adding a bit of depth to their blueline. de Haan is an intriguing rental option, as he comes with a lot of overall experience and can play both sides. Yet, for a deal to come to fruition between these two teams, Chicago would likely have to retain some of de Haan's $4.55 million cap hit.

In 46 games this season, de Haan has one goal to go along with four assists. It's been a bit of a down year for him, but he has seen his play improve as of late. Furthermore, acquiring him would likely cost less than getting Montreal Canadiens defenseman Ben Chiarot - who they have also been linked to.

When looking at what de Haan provides, he could work well on Calgary's bottom pair. When the playoffs come around, it's always beneficial to have experienced blueliners, and he fits that description perfectly.

In 498 career games between the New York Islanders, Carolina Hurricanes, and Blackhawks, de Haan has 16 goals, 100 assists, and 116 points.
