NHL Rumors: Teams Calling About Sabres Defenseman

According to Darren Dreger, teams are expressing interest in Buffalo Sabres defenseman Robert Hagg.

The Sabres acquired Hagg from the Philadelphia Flyers last summer as a part of the Rasmus Ristolainen trade. In 37 games with the team thus far, he has one goal, five assists, and a minus-11 rating. Although he hasn't been dominant offensively, he is a decent bottom-pair option for a team looking to add more depth to their blueline.

At this point of the season, the Sabres have a 16-24-8 record and are understandably expected to be sellers this March. Hagg has one year left on his current deal, so he naturally is being viewed as one of their rental candidates. Playoff teams are always looking to add more depth to their roster, and it also doesn't hurt that he is 6-foot-2 and plays a heavy game.

In 273 career games between the Flyers and Sabres, Hagg has 14 goals, 39 assists, 53 points, and 166 penalty minutes. It will be interesting to see if he ends up adding a third team to his resume before the trade deadline officially passes.
