Ducks Place 2 Forwards On Injured Reserve

The Anaheim Ducks have placed Ryan Getzlaf and Jakob Silfverberg on injured reserve.

This is not an ideal time for them to lose two of their forwards. The Ducks are currently fighting to get back into the playoff picture. At this juncture, they are trailing the Dallas Stars by four points for the final Wild Card in the Western Conference. Thus, they still could end up making the playoffs but also need to go on a sizeable winning streak from here.

Out of the pair, Getzlaf's absence is more notable. The 36-year-old captain has been one of their top players yet again this campaign. In 47 games, he has three goals to go along with 28 helpers. Even though his best scoring days are done, he is still providing them with offense and solid defensive play.

Silfverberg has had a bit of a down year, as he has five goals and 16 assists in 53 contests. However, he also has seen his production go up a bit as of late, as he had two goals and an assist over his last four games.

Alas, it will be interesting to see how the Ducks perform without these two for the next little while.
