Flyers Place Forward On Waivers

The Philadelphia Flyers have placed Gerry Mayhew on waivers.

Mayhew has gotten into the most NHL action of his career thus far this campaign. In 25 games with the Flyers, he has six goals and a minus-5 rating. Although the 29-year-old hasn't been dominant, he has shown that he can score at a bit in the league's most competitive league. However, that did not stop the Flyers from still placing him on waivers.

Mayhew has been a real force at the AHL level for several seasons now, however. His 2019-20 campaign with the Iowa Wild is a perfect example of that, as he had 39 goals and 61 points in just 49 games. However, he has cooled off a bit when with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms this year, as he has nine goals and seven assists in 24 games.

Because Mayhew plays both center and right wing, there could be some teams willing to take a shot on him. However, if he passes through waivers, he will be back with the Phantoms shortly.
