Lightning Acquire Forward From Senators

The Tampa Bay Lightning have acquired Nick Paul from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for Mathieu Joseph and a fourth-round pick.

For a team with minimal cap space, the Lightning are still finding ways to be busy this deadline season. They of course acquired Brandon Hagel last week, but now they have added another heart-and-soul forward in Paul. He's certainly a solid addition for a team looking to win their third straight Stanley Cup.

Paul will offer the Lightning a little bit of everything. The 27-year-old is capable of playing both center and left wing, so they will have multiple options when it comes to his placement in the lineup. Furthermore, he also works very well on the penalty kill due to his defensive play.

In 59 games this season, Paul has 11 goals and seven assists. Although the Senators had sent him multiple contract offers, they could get not agree to terms. As a result of this, he will now be a member of the Lightning.

Joseph is certainly a solid addition to the Senators, too, however. The 25-year-old forward could benefit from having a bigger role with Ottawa. In 58 games this season, he has eight goals and 10 helpers.

Nevertheless, the Atlantic Division is continuing to stay busy!
