Maple Leafs Netminder Out Multiple Weeks

Toronto Maple Leafs have announced goaltender Jack Campbell is expected to be sidelined for at least two weeks after he recently suffered a rib injury. The Leafs have recalled Erik Kallgren  has been recalled from the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.

Campbell has appeared in 40 games so far this season and after a blazing start that saw him named to the all-star team, it's been a struggle of late and apparently this injury is a big reason why. 'Soup' has managed a 24-9-4 record on the year with a 2.65 goals against average and a .914 save % but of late has let in far too many goals. In his last five starts, Campbell has let in 23 goals and has been visibly frustrated at times. It's certainly become a confidence issue as he's apologized multiple times after games that he will be better.

Toronto now hands over the starting gig to Petr Mrazek who has appeared in 15 games so far in 2021-22 and recorded a 10-5-0 record with a 3.28 goals against average. Make no mistake about it, if Mrazek struggles and management isn't confident he can provide some stability, look for them to get a sense of the goaltending market before the March 21 trade deadline.
