Maple Leafs Sign Goaltender

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed Harri Sateri to a one-year, one-way contract. He will have a cap hit of $750,000.

Sateri just helped Team Finland win the gold medal at the 2022 Winter Olympics. With that, he also put together a fantastic campaign in the KHL with the Novosibirsk Sibir. In 38 games played, he had a 14-16-5 record, but also a very impressive 2.02 GAA and .926 SV%. Furthermore, in each of his last five KHL seasons, he has had at least a .920 SV%. Thus, he has been consistent, to say the least.

However, due to the fact that Sateri was an international free agent, he had to be placed on waivers before officially joining the club. There certainly could be some teams in need of a goaltender who could opt to claim him. One team that comes to mind is the Edmonton Oilers, but we will see what happens from here.

Sateri's NHL experience is rather small, as he played nine games with the Florida Panthers during the 2017-18 campaign. During them, he had a 4-4-0 record, 2.92 GAA, and .911 SV%.
