NHL Rumors: 2 Philadelphia Flyers Trade Candidates

The Philadelphia Flyers are going to look awfully different next week as the trade deadline on Monday is expected to end an era. Captain Claude Giroux will be moved before the deadline, and while there's a couple of teams hot on his tail, the Flyers have two other players who are likely also getting dealt before the deadline:

Justin Braun, RHD

Defenseman at the deadline are a hot commodity and this season is no different. Justin Braun is drawing a ton of interest from other teams due to his experience, shot blocking abilities and stay-at-home style. The 35-year-old blueliner is a pending free agent, making $1.8 million against the cap, a number a bunch of teams can work with. He's recorded 15 points in 59 games so far this season and his 100 games of Stanley Cup playoff experience certainly make him stand out against other right-handed defenseman on the trade market. The Toronto Maple Leafs and Calgary Flames are two teams who have shown interest these past few weeks, and look for the Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins to potentially get involved in the sweepstakes.

Martin Jones

The goaltending market has been surprisingly slow to this point, but that could change in a big way this upcoming weekend. Jones is a veteran who has played almost every role on a team, and as a pending free agent making $2 million against the cap, could find himself on a playoff bound team as a depth option. The 32-year-old doesn't hold any trade protection and was in trade talks earlier this season involving the Edmonton Oilers, however the Oilers hung up when the Flyers wanted multiple draft picks. This season he's recorded a 7-11-3 record with a 3.42 goals against average and a .900 save percentage. Jones has 62 games of playoff experience under his belt, a number that is going to attract some teams. Look for the Florida Panthers, Washington Capitals, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Oilers to circle back on the price tag before Monday's deadline.
