NHL Rumors: Blackhawks Defenseman Open To Extension

While speaking with reporters, Calvin de Haan stated that he would like to remain with the Chicago Blackhawks next season.

de Haan is a pending unrestricted free agent, so he does have the opportunity to test the open market if he wants to. Due to this, it seemed likely that Chicago would trade before the deadline, but a move did not come to fruition.

The Blackhawks haven't indicated whether or not they would like to keep de Haan around, however. The 30-year-old has had a bit of a rough season this year. too. In 59 games, he has one goal, four assists, and a minus-17 rating. Due to this and the team rebuilding, it will be interesting to see if they want to keep the veteran around for next season.

Nevertheless, we will have to wait and see if an extension will be signed before the offseason is here.
