NHL Rumors: Blues Interested In Kraken Defenseman

According to Jeremy Rutherford, the St. Louis Blues are expressing interest in Seattle Kraken defenseman Carson Soucy.

The Blues have been linked to Ben Chiarot of the Montreal Canadiens, but Soucy would be a cheaper option who is capable of potentially providing the same. He is 6-foot-5 defensive defenseman who plays a heavy game. With that, he works well on the penalty kill if needed and can produce a bit from the point, too.

In 43 games this season, Soucy has seven goals, seven assists, and a plus-10 rating. He also has been active physically, as he has a career-high 79 hits thus far.

When looking at St. Louis' roster, he could fit well as an upgrade on their bottom pair. It will be interesting to see if the Blues end up bringing him in before the deadline. He would be more than a rental, too, as he carries a $2.75 million cap hit until the end of next season.
