NHL Rumors: Flyers Name Asking Price For Claude Giroux

According to Pierre LeBrun, the Philadephia Flyers want a first-round pick, prospect, and a young player in exchange for Claude Giroux.

LeBrun noted that Giroux has not officially asked for a trade yet. However, it seems very likely that the 34-year-old will be open to a move. He is in the final year of his contract, and the Flyers are at the bottom of the Metropolitan Division. This has been an immensely disappointing year for them, as they had a very eventful offseason that saw them make multiple big moves. However, they have only gone backward since.

Giroux is one of the biggest names in the rumor mill right now, so, understandably, the Flyers want a lot for him. Furthermore, the veteran has spent the entirety of his time with the franchise and is their captain. This only helps heighten his value in their eyes. Keep in mind, he is just seven games away from playing his 1000th with the team, too.

In 50 games this season, Giroux has 17 goals to go along with 22 helpers. Overall, it's been another very good season from the top-six forward. Once he officially states that he is willing to waive his no-movement clause, the sweepstakes will take off.
