NHL Rumors: Lightning Interested In Flyers Forward

According to Anthony Di Marco of The Fourth Period, the Tampa Bay Lightning have expressed interest in Philadelphia Flyers forward Claude Giroux.

This is a very interesting development. First off, the idea of Giroux joining the Lightning is a very scary one to think about for the rest of the league. They already are back-to-back Stanley Cup champions and certainly have the potential to win again. At this juncture, they have a 35-12-6 record, and this is after losing several players during the last summer. However, they are still open to making their roster even better, and Giroux would do just that.

Yet, the salary cap does exist, so any trade for Giroux would force Tampa Bay to send at least one player the other way. Their deadline cap space is at only $100,000, according to Cap Friendly, so they have very little wiggle room to work with.

The likelihood of Giroux heading to Tampa Bay seems slim, but the NHL always finds a way to surprise people. Regardless of what occurs, it is intriguing to hear that they are at least trying to bring him in.
