NHL Rumors: Stars Forward Likely Staying Put

According to Elliotte Friedman, the chances of Joe Pavelski staying with the Dallas Stars past the deadline are continuing to increase.

There were some rumblings that the Stars would trade Pavelski at the deadline because he is a pending UFA. With that, it isn't a guarantee that Dallas will be playing in the postseason, as the Western Conference is extremely close. Yet, even with this being so, both parties are still very open to getting an extension completed.

Even though Pavelski is 37 years old, he is having the best season of his long career. In 56 games thus far, he has 22 goals, 27 assists, and a plus-14 rating. Needless to say, the Stars want to keep his excellent production in their lineup not only for the rest of this season but also for the future.

Although there would be a huge market for Pavelski if made available, that likely will not end up being the case.
