Seattle Kraken Sign Prospect

The Seattle Kraken are joining in the free agency fun, as they have signed Tye Kartye to an entry-level contract.

With it officially being March, undrafted prospects are now permitted to sign entry-level contracts with teams. Kartye fit that description, but when looking at how well the 20-year-old is currently playing in the OHL, he certainly should have been selected during his draft year.

After recording a 53-point campaign in 64 games with the Soo Greyhounds last season, Kartye has taken an impressive step forward this year. In 45 games, he has 33 goals to go along with 25 assists. It's been a career year for the 6-foot-1 winger, and that of course is a major reason why the Kraken have decided to add him to their system.

As an expansion team, the Kraken should continue to bring in prospects. They are very much still building their prospect pool up, and now they have landed a pretty nice one in Kartye. Time will tell what his ceiling is, but it's certainly not a bad thing for them to add a player who is scoring that well in juniors.

Nevertheless, don't be surprised to see Seattle sign more prospects from here.
