Ducks Forward Done For Season

Anaheim Ducks forward Sam Carrick has been ruled out for the remainder of the season because of a lower-body injury.

Although the Ducks are out of playoff contention, it's still rough to hear that Carrick's excellent year is over. After playing just 47 NHL games in five seasons, he cemented himself a permanent spot in Anaheim's roster this campaign. With that, he was effective in the process, as he had a career-high 11 goals to go along with 19 points.

Carrick was also an immensely physical force. His 122 hits and 85 penalty minutes show that perfectly. Overall, he proved that he can be an NHL player, and it will be interesting to see what happens next with him. The 30-year-old is a pending UFA, so let's see if he gets himself a one-way deal from here - whether it's with Anaheim or elsewhere.
