Maple Leafs Stars To Miss Season Finale

The Toronto Maple Leafs play their final game of the 2021-22 season on Friday. Yet, they will be without two of their stars, as the team plans to rest Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner before the playoffs begin.

With the Leafs already cementing themselves a very good spot in the postseason, it makes sense for them to rest these two superstars. They will need them to be 100% as they aim to push for the Stanley Cup, so there's no need for them to risk getting an injury in a contest that doesn't hold too much significance.

What a year it's been for Matthews, though. In 73 games, he scored a ridiculous 60 goals and had 106 total points. With these numbers, he is viewed as a frontrunner for the Hart Memorial Trophy. Marner has also been excellent this season, too. In 72 games this campaign, he had 35 goals and 62 helpers. Overall, it's hard to find anything to complain about regarding their play, but now they will need to translate this dominance over to the postseason.
