Coyotes Re-Sign Young Netminder

The Arizona Coyotes have decided to bring back a young piece rather than let him reach restricted free agency. 23-year-old goaltender Ivan Prosvetov has signed a one-year contract extension, as his entry-level contract was expiring.

"We are very pleased to sign Ivan to a contract extension," said Coyotes GM Bill Armstrong. "He is a big, athletic goaltender who is very talented. We look forward to continuing to watch him develop."

The Coyotes are counting on the promising prospect to develop at a quicker pace than he's shown thus far since coming over from Russia. The 6'5" Prosvetov has played in 6 NHL games over the past two years, but sports only an .858 save percentage.

Playing for the Tuscon Roadrunners of the AHL this past season, he posted a disappointing .880 save percentage in 45 games, with a 3.66 GAA.
