NHL Announces 2021-22 Norris Trophy Finalists

The NHL has announced the Norris Trophy finalists for the 2021-22 season. Victor Hedman, Roman Josi, and Cale Makar will all be in the running to be named this year's top NHL defenseman.

Hedman had himself another excellent season for the Tampa Bay Lightning. For the first time in his Hall of Fame-worthy career, he was over a point-per-game, as he had 20 goals and 65 helpers in 82 contests. He is also having a good start to this year's playoffs, as he has one goal and five assists in four games.

Josi is arguably the frontrunner when it comes to the trio, though. He put together a historic season, as he had 23 goals to go along with a ridiculous 73 assists in 80 games. He was just inches away from reaching 100 points on the year, but it's fair to say that 96 is still an outstanding amount.

Makar being among the finalists was an absolute guarantee. The 23-year-old is continuing to get better and is a human highlight reel. In 77 games, he scored an outstanding 28 goals, 58 assists, and plus-48 rating. His dominance is carrying over to the playoffs, too, as he has two goals and five assists in just three games.
