NHL Rumors: Canucks Forward Wants To Stay Put

Recently, there were reports that Alex Chiasson was going to be heading overseas to play with HC Lugano. Yet, his agent has now not only shut those rumors down but also noted that the veteran winger wants to re-sign with the Vancouver Canucks.

After signing a PTO with the Canucks during training camp, Chiasson impressed and earned himself a deal for the 2021-22 season. Overall, he provided decent value in the bottom six, as he scored 13 goals and recorded nine assists in 67 games. Yet, he was most effective on the power play, as 10 of his points came from being utilized there.

The Canucks are currently looking to free up cap space, so it's hard to predict if Chiasson will return. However, if he's willing to sign another cheap contract, perhaps they can find a way to squeeze him back into their lineup.
