NHL Rumors: What It Would Take To Move 2 Blackhawks Stars

The Chicago Blackhawks have already started their rebuild and will be looking to move even more pieces to build a better future. There is speculation around who will be staying through this rebuild and who can be moved for assets. Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat are the topic of conversation at the moment.

Charlie Roumeliotis, Blackhawks Insider for NBC Sports Chicago, wrote that the Blackhawks will only trade Kane if he requests to be moved. He also stated that it would take a big offer for the team to consider moving DeBrincat.

It is respectful for the team to not force Kane's hand after all that he's done for the franchise. But to play devil's advocate, it is still a business and the Blackhawks would be able to get a nice return for Kane, even at this stage of his career. It's also understandable that the Blackhawks would be listening to offers on DeBrincat since they may be blown away by one team, but the right move would be to keep him unless what's coming back to them is of more value.

The Blackhawks' rebuild could take a couple of years or it can take a lot longer. We've seen both in the NHL over the past number of years, but the goal is to be able to turn the ship around sooner than later. They don't want to go back to the dark days of swimming around at the bottom of the league until they landed Jonathan Toews and Kane in the draft.

Included in any deal would have to be a 2022 first round pick. The Blackhawks want to get started on rebuilding another dynasty right away, and the 2022 NHL Entry Draft is stocked with talent. Roumeliotis noted that the team is looking to acquire a first round pick this season. This would make up for the first rounder they traded to acquire Seth Jones last offseason.
