NHL Rumors: Wild Defenseman Done In Minnesota

With the Ryan Suter and Zach Parise buyout penalties jumping up to just under $13 million for next season, the club will be forced to make changes to their roster. According to Michael Russo, the Wild are likely to trade Matt Dumba to successfully re-sign pending RFA Kevin Fiala

Ultimately, when comparing the pair, it would make sense to trade Dumba. He is about to enter the final year of his contract and will be a UFA once it expires. Fiala, on the other hand, just put together an 85-point campaign in 82 games this season, so losing him would be a major blow to their forward group.

It will be interesting to see what the Wild end up doing from here. If Fiala's asking price is too expensive, it could very well lead Minnesota to move him instead. Alas, let's see what comes to fruition.
