Penguins Sign Defenseman To Extension

The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed Taylor Fedun to a two-year, two-way contract extension. At the NHL level, he will carry a $762,500 cap hit.

The Penguins just lost Juuso Riikola to the SHL on Wednesday, so it makes sense that they are locking up another one of their depth defensemen so quickly.

Fedun did not make a single NHL regular-season appearance for Pittsburgh, but he had a major role in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton as the team's captain. In 44 games on the year, he scored five goals and added 11 assists.

Fedun will continue to be a mentor for the AHL team with this move. In 127 career NHL games, he has eight goals, 27 assists, and 35 points.
