Boston Bruins Bring Back GM For The Long Haul

With his deal set to expire this week, Don Sweeney has been officially re-signed by the Boston Bruins on a "multi-year" contract extension.

Bruins president Cam Neely had said “I really wanted to see how the year went. We had a lot of changes in the last offseason, so I just really wanted to see how that played out. Obviously, you get January, February, March…really good months for us. The team really came together. I thought we had a lot of depth and I was happy with what he did at the deadline.”

The deal really came together after captain Patrice Bergeron confirmed this past weekend that he would be returning for his 19th season in Boston.

What this could mean, however, for contract talks with David Pastrnak remains to be seen.

Rumors ran rampant earlier this month that Pastrnak refused to re-sign with the Bruins if Sweeney remained as the GM

Should be an interesting next move in Beantown.
